The European Federation of Bottled Waters(EFBW) was announced in 2018 : By 2025, the average use of recycled plastics in European bottled water PET bottles is not less than 25%, and the PET recovery rate is 90%.

As a non-profit organization which representing nearly 600 mineral water producers in Europe, EFBW is committed to further innovation in eco-design and non-energy-based packaging materials research. EFBW said to promote the industry together and make the industry sustainable.

According to one study, 70% of beverage bottles are made from PET. However, the current recycling of plastic bottles is not significant. At present, about 1 million plastic bottles are sold every minute in the world, and only 14% of them are recycled. In other words, producers still have to use oil to produce new beverage bottles to meet demand.

In fact, bottled water producers can change this suitation by the following 4 aspects:

1.COLLECTING

90 % of all PET water bottles by 2025*.

2.COLLABORATING

with the recycling industry to use at least 25% recycled PET in its bottles by 2025*.

3.INNOVATING

and investing further in eco-design and research on non*fossil based packaging materials.

4.ENGAGING

with consumers and supporting initiatives that will encourage proper sorting and disposal of packaging.

It is a great waste, even if one bottle eventually becomes rubbish,Sunswell hope that PET bottles can be seen as valuable resources, not waste.
